When You Grow… and Others Don’t Like It

When You Grow… and Others Don’t Like It

There’s a moment in every woman’s growth journey that no one prepares her for.

It’s the moment your life starts expanding — your clarity deepens, your energy rises, your confidence awakens, your dreams become bigger…

And suddenly, someone in your world feels uncomfortable.

Not because you’ve done anything wrong. Not because you’ve changed in a negative way. Simply because your growth highlights their stagnation.

This is one of the hardest emotional experiences women face — and one of the most misunderstood.

I know this because I’ve lived it, more than once.

My life expanded — and some people preferred the old version of me

When I began healing from burnout… when I reconnected to my purpose… when I found my voice again… when I finally stepped into coaching full-time…

I became happier. Much happier.

There was lightness in me that hadn’t been there for years. I felt curious again. Creative. Alive. Joyful. In love with life.

And something unexpected happened:

Some people celebrated me. Others… didn’t.

It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t dramatic. It was subtle — a hesitation, a distance, a small discomfort in their eyes.

And I realised something profound:

Not everyone is ready for your expanded self — especially when they were comfortable with your smaller self.

But here’s the truth: You don’t owe anyone the old version of you.

Your brilliance will challenge people who aren’t ready to shine

Women in my coaching practice often whisper:

“I’m scared people will think I’m too much.” “I don’t want others to feel bad if I grow.” “I’m afraid my success will create distance.” “I’m happier, but some people around me seem irritated by it.” “I dim myself to keep the peace.”

They don’t realise that this isn’t their problem. It’s simply what happens when one person evolves and the other stays in the familiar.

Growth triggers two reactions in others:

✨ Inspiration — “If she can, maybe I can too.”

✨ Insecurity — “Her growth highlights where I’m not growing.”

Both are human. Both are normal. But only one is your responsibility.

Growth is not arrogance — it’s alignment

There is nothing arrogant about wanting more for your life. About wanting purpose. About wanting joy. About wanting emotional freedom. About wanting to feel alive in your work.

This is what I’ve discovered through my own transformation:

When you become happier — truly, deeply, quietly happier — you don’t dim others. You energize them. You remind them what’s possible. You expand them.

I use my happiness consciously. It is not a private luxury — it’s an invitation.

An invitation for other women to think bigger, dream wider, breathe deeper, and claim what they want with courage.

The people who love you will grow with you
This is the beauty of stepping into your true self:

The right people rise with you. They celebrate you. They are nourished by your joy. They don’t feel threatened by your light — they feel illuminated by it.

And the others? You don’t lose them. You simply stop shrinking for them.

If this resonates, here’s what I want you to know

There is nothing wrong with you. You are not “too much.” You are not “changing too fast.” You are not “leaving people behind.”

You are becoming the woman you were always meant to be — and your life is rearranging itself around that truth.

This is exactly what we explore in EVOLVE. Not just inner work… but the courage to live your expansion, express it, and let it reshape your world in beautiful ways.
